We, the administration and staff of Aquatic Animal Care Services, stand in solidarity with the Black community and we stand against institutionalized racism. We are horrified and angered by the atrocities committed against black people in the United States, whether violent and visible, insidious and hidden, transparent and hateful, or open and ignorant. We are humbled and embarrassed by our own ignorance of Black history. We recognize we must do more and we must try, each day, to work against racial injustice. We align ourselves with the University of Oregon Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation and we commit to "listen carefully, educate ourselves, and act on what we learn."
